Hi, congrats on baby.  Now is a great time to start a scrapbook. U could even start with the sonagram. When my 1st grandchild was going to be born I marked day of sonagram on calendar and put babies 1st picture.  I was so excited.  I've seen pictures where a mom makes a heart with her hands and holds over her tummy.  I think such a sweet picture and it documents u n baby.  Best Wishes.

Stephanie,

Congrats. I think pregnancy gets a lot of people started.

You were asking what you need. Here are my suggestions for basic tools.

12" paper trimmer, there are two types a regular blade and a rotary blade. I personally like the rotary blades better because they don't get dull as quickling, meaning you don't have to run to the store and get a new one to replace the dull one. My favorite is by Fiskars.

Tape Runner, this is adhesive that works like a correction tape runner. It's basically a double sided tape dispenser. They stopped making my favorite brand so I suggest Tombo Mono Adhesive now.

If you plan to write by hand in your scrapbook you'll want a journaling pen/marker that is acid free. Really there is no best on this one, choose the one that you like to write with.

You'll also need a nice sharp small pair of scissors.

Obviously you'll need photos, cardstock and maybe some patterned paper.

If you have any questions feel free to email or message me I'm happy to help.

Congrats on the pending arrival of your first bundle of joy.  I am part of the Spotted Canary team and know how overwhelming it can be - which is why I noted in my profile I'm a much better crafter in my mind than in practice, so just remember to keep it simple at first.  A really great place to start is under our Getting Started Section of the Scrapbooking tab

http://www.spottedcanary.com/Scrapbooking/getstarted.htm

You can also check out the page layouts section - really great article on choosing albums and page layout sizes

http://www.spottedcanary.com/Choosing_Album_and_Page_Layout_Sizes.htm

Good luck!

How are you and the new baby getting along?  I'm sure your time is much more limited now, but I hope you've been able to give scrapbooking a try!  Be sure and upload your pages in the gallery here.  We'd all love to see that precious new little baby!

Congtats on the new addition to your family!

I firts got started when I was pregnant with my first child and I have not looked back yet!!

I beleive the best way to start is with a kit which usually include everything you need except a paper cutter, adhesive and pictures!!

Enjoy and have fun... and beware it is very addicting!!!
