I recently picked up Photoshop Elements 7 and really like it. I used to use Photoshop 4 but didn't have the disk to load it on my new computer, so I was forced to "downgrade" to elements, even though Elements and the full blown version of Photoshop seem pretty similar to me. Does anyone use PS CE or any of the advanced photoshop programs, am I missing out???

I use PSCS (I have CS4 but have yet to try to tackle learning all the new features) and I love it! I do design my own digital scrapbook papers and elements so I don't think I could ever go back to Elements. My impression of Elements 7 is that it has a lot of enhanced features so for scrapbooking it is probably enough (and significantly cheaper than full blown PS). Things I am not sure if it can do is text on a path and Actions (I think there is a work around wher you can load PSE compatible actions into the Styles and Effects menu). I do find that I like the ability to customize and really control all the aspects of my layer styles like dropshadows and embossing which I am not sure how flexible PSE is. Just my 2 cents worth...

I have used both Photo Shop and Photo Shop Elements. If you are going super-heavy into designing your own papers, running a photography company, or doing some other detailed design work, Photo Shop is a must. However I can say that I honestly don't use too much on Photo Shop that I couldn't work around or replicate in Elements. For a newbie who knows nothing of Photo Shop, Elements actually makes some of the steps a bit easier (though it was kind of tricky to step down, since I was familiar with the full-blown program). In the end I actually moved back to Photo Shop, but I could easily do everything that I do in my digi scrapping with Elements if I had to.

Since I am completely "self taught" on the computer, I was not too anxious to get into any of the Photo Shop programs. They are very intimidating to me. I use a program called FotoFusion which I love. It is easy to learn and although the Scrapbook version that I have doesn't do all that Photo Shop does, it does what I need it to do.
Last year I made a DVD (with music) of about 300 layouts for my mom. It turned out great! http://sugarstamper.blogspot.com (digital scrapbook blog) http://sugarstamp.blogspot.com (rubber stamping blog)

I would love to have the full blown version of PS but it's not really in my budget and since I don't do much with designing my own papers and elements can't really justify the expense.
I've never heard of FotoFusion, is it something you picked up at Staples?

Thanks all -- I will definitely be checking this out. I don't think I will ever completely switch to digital -- since I am so hands on, but I certainly would entertain the idea of hybrid scrapbooking.

I just looked at the demo for fotofusion and I really want to try it but they don't offer a version for mac users. Bummer! Cherish the memories but don't let the opportunity to make new ones pass you by.

I would love to know the Adobe opinion on the Digital Scrapbooking Program from Creative Memories, Storybook Creator. I have numerous clients loving the Storybook program, a couple of designers as well...but I haven't played with Adobe since University so I am out current trends in Digital Scrapbooking Adobe style.
What are the HOT trends in digital with Adobe?
If anyone has recently played with both softwares, how do they compare?
Thanks for your help ladies!

I use Photoshop CS3 and love it-took a while to learn my way around all the bells and whistles but now I think there is a CS5 too-can't keep up. Just learning now how to apply photoshop actions now lots to learn.

Help!!! I am extremely interested in learning how to layer images using Gimp. I've tried reading the how to from the manual, but I need to have it broken down a little more. I'm more of a hands on learner. I would so appreciate any direction anyone can give me. Thanks so much! ladybuglane8@gmail.com

I have used Photoshop CSE & Elements. I took classes and did online tutorials and found that unless I was consistently working in the program, I wasn't getting everything out of it possible. I recently jumped over to CM Story Book Creator 4.0 and LOVE IT!!!! Very similar to PS, but much more user friendly. I also have found that just about anywhere you go, you will find someone who uses SC and can help you out when stuck. I will continue to paper create; however, SC is a great option to add some digi flare to my books.

I use Photoshop CS5. I love digital scrapbooking so I have a bunch of graphic software I've tried along the way, such as Digital Scrapbook Artist, Paint.net, Gimp, and Paint Shop pro, those are good, but the best and most intuitive is without a doubt Photoshop Elements or CS. I'm addicted to it!
