Brother DesignNCut® (DC200)
Sizzix Eclips 2®
Sizzix Eclips 1®
We’ve been told that the Foil Quill may work with other cutting machines, including those manufactured by Pazzles™, Silver Bullet™, and Klic-N-Kut™. However, these machines have not been tested by our in-house team.
If your foil is ripping or the foil transfer is spotty, there may be foil residue on the tip of the Foil Quill. This is most likely to happen with the Fine Tip Foil Quill Pen. To remove the residue, gently rub the pen tip on paper (when cool) and wipe clean with a dry cloth. Also, some foil colors take slightly longer to transfer, so you may need to set the speed on your electronic cutting machine to a slower setting or to do a second pass.
The Foil Quill works with any SVG files. In addition to files you may have created yourself, we've also put together amazing design collections on thumb drives from Heidi Swapp, Paige Evans, Amy Tangerine, and Kelly Creates. The Fine tip heat pen is recommended for detail and small fonts. Use the Standard tip heat pen for regular use. The Bold tip heat pen is recommended for thick lines.

For the Cricut®, remove the accessory adapter from clamp A before inserting Foil Quill by pressing up on the underside of the accessory adapter.

Foil Quill foil transfers using heat and pressure. It has been extensively tested and optimized to provide customers with the best experience and results. For this reason, we recommend using Foil Quill brand foil with the Foil Quill pen.
It is recommended to use a USB power source such as a computer, wall, outlet, or power bank. Not all USB ports on cutting machines power Foil Quill. Machine must be within 2 feet of power source to accommodate cord length and machine movement. Once plugged into compatible power source, Foil Quill will light up.
The Foil Quill has undergone extensive testing to ensure it's safe to use with your die cutting machine. If your machine was purchased within the last year, it may already be out of warranty. If your machine is still under the manufacturer’s warranty and is somehow damaged by the Foil Quill after being used in accordance with its instruction manual, simply email our customer service team at email@example.com for resolution.
Foiling quality may vary depending on machine settings and material. In most cases selecting the setting based on material you intend to foil is a good starting place. We recommend starting with the manufacturer instructions for drawing or sketching, testing that and then adjusting from there. We also recommend experimenting with different settings with different materials until you get optimal results.
The Foil Quill works on most paper, cardstock, book board, vinyl, acetate, vellum, leather, fabric, and wood. However, results depend on the type and texture of material, machine, and speed setting being used. For best results use untreated material with a smooth texture (no sheen or pile, etc.). We recommend testing the material first to make sure it will accept the foil. With some materials the foil is not permanent and can be washed off.
Foil Quill is not compatible with the sublimation process. Also, the Foil Quill heat pen is not intended for use with laser cutting machines.
Foil Quill produces a finished, professional look using heat transfer technology that you can't achieve using metallic pens.
The Foil Quill will not damage your mat when used according to the instructions. A protective metal heat shield is included with the Foil Quill to protect your cutting mat when not in use. For best results do not exceed 3 hours of continuous run time and unplug the Foil Quill when not in use.
The maximum temperature of the USB pen housing near the metal tip is 163.7 F / 73.2 C. The maximum temperature of the USB pen housing in contact with the electronic cutting machine is 125 F / 51.75 C. Always unplug the Foil Quill pen when not in use and never leave the Foil Quill unattended. Do not touch metal parts of Foil Quill when in use as it may cause burns.
No thermal fuse has been installed, but extensive tests have been run for up to 4 hours without temperature problems. For best results do not exceed 3 hours of continuous run time and unplug the Foil Quill when not in use.
The Foil Quill complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.
