I wanted to practice using fondant because I was asked by my aunt to make my cousins graduation cake. So this was my first attempt using fondant and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I had it all built up in my head that it was going to be so difficult. I know it's not a craft but baking is another love of mine.

Instructions

STEP 1:

Bake a 9X13 cake of your choice

STEP 2:

let cool completely and level off top and cut into a paisley shape(chick shape)

STEP 3:

Crumb coat with icing of your choice, make sure it is smooth. You will see all the bumps under the fondant.

STEP 4:

color fondant(I used store bought fondant but you can make your own)

STEP 5:

roll out to 1/8th of an inch and use rolling pin to transfer it to cake.

STEP 6:

Cut off excess and add the details.

That is an adorable cake, I just want to eat it up! I am not much of a baker but I have heard many horror stories about fondant when I watch all the different cake shows on TV. That looks great!

When I first saw this chick, I thought it was a card with dimension. Love the cake

I got this idea from Wilton they made this using the paisley pan set of which I didn't have. I just cut the cake to the same shape.
