If you wish to frame your design with a mat, choose your mat color carefully. Look at your design and select a mat color that will bring out a color in the design or a color that will coordinate with the room in which you want to hang it.

Instructions

STEP 1:

Measure your stitched design to check the actual size before buying a frame. Stitching tension as well as subtle differences in your fabric may change the finished size of your design.

STEP 2:

Center your design on the board. Pin the fabric to the edges of the board to temporarily hold it. Pull the fabric taut as you pin.

STEP 3:

Fold the fabric corners, then the edges to the back of the board, making mitered corners. Hold the edges in place temporarily with tape.

STEP 4:

Hand stitch the folds together, using heavy thread. When finished, remove the tape.

STEP 5:

Using long (36" or more) pieces of heavy thread, lace opposing edges together. Remove pins when finished.

STEP 6:

Place the mounted design in the frame and secure it by placing small nails or glazier’s points into the inside back of the frame. For a more finished look, you can glue brown paper to the back of the frame.
